WinitClinic

Functional Medicine Marketplace With At-Home Testing, on Web, iOS, and Android

EltexSoft built WinitClinic, a functional medicine marketplace with at-home health testing: Nuxt.js web platform, React Native iOS and Android apps, practitioner credential verification, HIPAA-compliant messaging and video on Twilio, CLIA-certified lab integration. 1,000+ practitioners, 10,000+ consultations a month. Five-year engagement from 2018.

WinitClinic is a two-sided marketplace for functional medicine. Patients find and book independent practitioners: functional medicine doctors, naturopathic doctors, holistic medicine practitioners, health coaches, chiropractors, and dietitians. They consult by video and chat, and they order at-home tests that ship to their door, get processed at a CLIA-certified lab, and come back with a clinician’s sign-off.

EltexSoft built the platform: the Nuxt.js web application and the React Native iOS and Android patient apps. More than 1,000 practitioners are on it, and it handles more than 10,000 consultations a month.

How the Engagement Started

WinitClinic came to us in 2018 as a referral from HeyTutor, where an EltexSoft team had been embedded for years and the founders had seen what a team that stays looks like from the client side. That referral is the whole origin story. No pitch deck, no RFP. The engagement ran for five years with a team of three backend engineers, three frontend engineers, DevOps, QA, and a technical program manager.

What We Built

Practitioner discovery and credential verification. Search by specialty, condition, modality, and availability. Every practitioner passes credential checks before going live: NPI lookup, state licensure, and board certification where applicable. Cross-state telehealth rules decide who a patient in a given state is allowed to see.

Booking and payments with PHI kept out of the payment path. Stripe processes payments but does not sign a BAA, so the architecture keeps protected health information out of payment metadata entirely. A payment record knows an amount and a customer. It never knows a diagnosis.

HIPAA-compliant messaging and video on Twilio. Real-time chat and video consultations run on Twilio under the platform’s BAA chain, with encryption in transit and at rest, MFA for anyone touching ePHI, and tamper-evident audit logs for every PHI access event.

At-home testing, end to end. Six test types: food sensitivity, gut microbiome, hormones, heavy metals, mycotoxins, and micronutrients. The platform handles the whole loop: kit ordering, specimen logistics, integration with a major CLIA-certified laboratory, result ingestion, clinician review and sign-off, and result delivery to the patient inside the app.

React Native apps for patients. One codebase, iOS and Android: booking, messaging, video, test ordering, and results. Practitioners work in the web application.

Why This Engagement Pattern Works

The hard parts of a healthcare marketplace are not the marketplace parts. They are the credential rules that differ by state, the lab integration that changes when the lab changes its API, and the compliance work that has to hold while the product keeps shipping. Those problems are not solved once. They are maintained.

WinitClinic worked with the same EltexSoft engineers for five years. That is why a new test type or a new practitioner category was a feature, not a migration.

FAQ

Common questions

What is WinitClinic?
WinitClinic is a two-sided marketplace for functional medicine. Patients find and book independent practitioners, consult by video and chat, and order at-home health tests that are processed by a CLIA-certified lab and returned with a clinician's sign-off. More than 1,000 practitioners are on the platform and it handles more than 10,000 consultations a month.
What did EltexSoft build for WinitClinic?
The Nuxt.js web platform, the React Native iOS and Android patient apps, practitioner discovery and credential verification, booking and payments with PHI kept out of the payment path, HIPAA-compliant messaging and video consultations on Twilio, and the at-home testing pipeline from kit order through lab integration to clinician-reviewed results.
How did WinitClinic find EltexSoft?
Through a referral from HeyTutor, where an EltexSoft team had been embedded for years. The WinitClinic engagement started in 2018 and ran for five years with a team of three backend engineers, three frontend engineers, DevOps, QA, and a technical program manager.
Is WinitClinic HIPAA compliant?
Yes. The platform runs on AWS under a BAA chain, with encryption in transit and at rest, MFA for anyone touching ePHI, and tamper-evident audit logs for every PHI access event. Twilio handles messaging and video under a BAA. Stripe processes payments but does not sign a BAA, so protected health information is kept out of payment metadata entirely.
Which at-home tests does WinitClinic offer?
Food sensitivity, gut microbiome, hormones, heavy metals, mycotoxins, and micronutrients. The platform handles kit ordering, specimen logistics, integration with a major CLIA-certified laboratory, result ingestion, clinician review and sign-off, and delivery of results to the patient inside the app.
